Shane Meyers Memorial Scholarship
Shane Meyers was literally a “Kish Kid” being born during his mother’s first year of employment at the college. Not being a very studious person, his first year at Kishwaukee College was not very successful. He dropped out of school and moved to Colorado to be a ski bum. While in Colorado, he became interested in drag racing and wrenching on cars. He moved back to Illinois after 4 ½ years and enrolled again at Kishwaukee College for Automotive Technology. While working full time, he managed to complete the program in 2007 and made the Dean’s List. He spent many long nights in his garage working on friends’ cars often going to bed when the sun was coming up. Shane passed away suddenly in 2010 just shy of his 30th birthday. His mother continued to work at the college for two more years. This fund is established through the generosity of family, friends, and the Kishwaukee College Career Technologies Automotive Division.
